DESCRIPTION:Acclaimed Latin GRAMMY nominated pianist\, composer\, and educator Martin Bejerano has performed/recorded with numerous jazz luminaries\, including his 20 year association with GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award-winning drummer Roy Haynes\, Christian McBride Band\, Dave Holland\, Pat Metheny\, Ignacio Berroa\, Ron Carter\, Dafnis Prieto\, Russell Malone\,\, Luciana Souza\, Jonathan Kreisberg\, and Roxana Amed\, performing at nearly all of the major jazz clubs\, festivals and venues around the world\, as well as performing on the Late Show with David Letterman. He is featured on over 25 recordings\, including his most recent Latin GRAMMY nominated album #CubanAmerican\, the GRAMMY nominated Fountain of Youth with the Roy Haynes Quartet\, and Roxana Amed’s Latin GRAMMY nominated albums Ontology and Unánime. \nAn award-winning bandleader\, Martin’s trio has performed at such notable venues as Symphony Space\, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Lincoln Center\, The Jazz Gallery\, Barquisimeto Jazz Festival\, El Hatillo Jazz Festival\, St. Petersburg Jazz Festival\, Festival Miami\, and Lucerne Piano Off-Stage Festival.  He has been twice-awarded the prestigious “New Jazz Works” grant from Chamber Music America in 2010 and 2017\, as well as composition grants and commissions from the Dranoff International 2 Piano Foundation\, Sonos Chamber Orchestra (New York City)\, and a Provost Research Award grant from the University of Miami\, where he is currently a tenured faculty member. \nAn artist that enjoys working in multiple genres\, Martin has also worked with multiple Grammy and Tony award-winning arranger/orchestrator Alex Lacamoire (Hamilton\, In the Heights\, Dear Evan Hansen) on numerous projects\, including Linn Manuel Miranda’s musical “Bring it On”\, as musical director/pianist for Tony-nominated composer Gary William Friedman\, and on numerous other musical theatre projects in New York City.  He composed the theme song for Arizona Opera’s “UnMic’d” YouTube podcast\, and was commissioned by the Makrokosmos Project to arrange Prince’s “Little Red Corvette” for classical piano team Duo Stephanie and Saar and the Portland Percussion Group. \nOutside of his performing and teaching career\, Martin works with numerous music organizations\, as a board member for the non-profit arts education organization “Arts for Learning”\, Artistic Director for The Dranoff International 2 Piano Foundation\, and as a board member for the American Jazz Pianist Competition. \nCurrently\, Martin heads the Jazz Piano Studio at the highly acclaimed Frost School of Music\, University of Miami\, where he teaches jazz piano\, improvisation\, and composition\, and continues touring and recording with his current project\, #CubanAmerican Trio\, as well as numerous other artists including Dafnis Prieto\, Ignacio Berroa Trio\, Jonathan Kreisberg Quartet\, and Roxana Amed.
